[Avoid the crowds] Head to Kengamine via the Prince Route around the Hoei Crater! 2-day guided Mt. Fuji Climbing Tour (departing Shinjuku at 7:30 AM)
This Tour is For You If...
- Want to hike through volcanic scenery that looks like the surface of the moon
- Want to climb on a quiet route with fewer crowds
- Want to depart from Shinjuku
- Want to see the Hoei Crater up close
Point 1: Crowd-Free & Beginner-Friendly "Prince Route" Arrangement
The Gotemba Route is the quietest of Mt. Fuji’s four climbing routes. However, climbing from the 5th Station on this route is for advanced hikers and extremely challenging for beginners. That’s why this tour uses the "Prince Route". Starting from the Fujinomiya 5th Station and crossing through Hoei Crater to join the Gotemba Route, this path was originally designed for the current Emperor (when he was Crown Prince) to enjoy a peaceful climb—a route that truly offers the best of both worlds.
What makes our tour different: Standard Prince Route itineraries descend via the "Osunabashiri" (Great Sand Run), but this steep sandy descent is actually very hard on tired legs and not suited for beginners. Based on feedback from guides and past participants, we’ve deliberately arranged a "beginner-first" descent back via the same Fujinomiya Route.
"I want to avoid crowds, but I won’t compromise on safety or ease of walking." This is a one-of-a-kind route crafted with exactly that kind of beginner in mind.
Point 2: Almost There! Stay at 3,300m "Akaiwa Hachigo-kan" to Make Day 2 Easier
On this tour, departing Shinjuku at 7:30 allows you to climb all the way to "Akaiwa Hachigo-kan (3,300m)" at the 7.9th Station on the Gotemba Route on Day 1. By pushing to a high elevation on the first day, the distance for Day 2’s summit attempt is dramatically shortened.
The elevation difference to the summit is only about 470m. Compared to staying at a typical mountain hut, reaching the summit the next morning becomes remarkably easier. The slightly earlier departure time is all part of a strategic schedule designed to maximize your chances of summit success.
Point 3: Summit Success Secret! Leave Unnecessary Gear at "Akaiwa Hachigo-kan"
At "Akaiwa Hachigo-kan (3,300m / 7.9th Station)," you can leave unnecessary gear at the hut during your summit attempt. Being freed from the weight on your back during the final climb through thin air makes a bigger difference in conserving energy than you might expect.
Climbing light dramatically improves your chances of reaching the summit, even as a beginner. Akaiwa Hachigo-kan is also highly popular for its hospitable staff and the beautiful "Shadow Fuji" visible from the hut.
Point 4: A Warm Breakfast to Revive Cold Bodies Before Descending
Akaiwa Hachigo-kan is also known for its excellent food. The dinner curry comes with unlimited refills to satisfy hungry climbers. Even better is the warm breakfast (rice, ham & egg, miso soup) served after you return from your summit attempt. While most tours provide a cold box lunch, here you can warm up from the inside after the freezing summit sunrise. A perfect send-off for an energized descent.
Point 5: Summit Kengamine (3,776m) – Japan’s Highest Peak

Enjoy the dynamic scenery of Hoei Crater along the uncrowded Prince Route. Of course, the goal is the very top of Japan. After the routes merge, we continue upward to guide you to Kengamine (3,776m)—Japan’s highest peak. Stand where few others do and savor the once-in-a-lifetime view from the true summit.
*In cases of severe weather, crowding, or health concerns, the guide may decide to descend without visiting Kengamine.
Point 6: Full Guide Accompaniment! Hot Spring Stop After Descending (bathing fee paid separately)

During the climb, professional guides accompany the group at a ratio of 1 guide per 15 participants, managing pacing and leading safely. After descending, we stop at a hot spring facility. The bathing fee is not included in the tour price, so feel free to enjoy the hot spring, grab a meal or a beer, or browse souvenirs—however you like.
*Bathing and food/drink fees are paid individually. *Due to traffic conditions, the hot spring stop may be shortened or omitted.
Point 7: Trusted "Yamarent" – Popular Mt. Fuji Climbing Rental Sets
Even in midsummer, temperatures near the summit of Mt. Fuji can drop to near freezing. For safety, we recommend the "7-Piece Set" (¥9,000) which includes a warm fleece. For those concerned about stamina, we also offer the "12-Piece Set" (¥14,000) with trekking pants, performance tights, and knee supporters to reduce leg strain and give you extra support for reaching the summit.
