[Avoid the crowds] Head to Kengamine via the Prince Route around the Hoei Crater! 2-day guided Mt. Fuji Climbing Tour (departing Shinjuku at 7:30 AM)
[Avoid the crowds] Head to Kengamine via the Prince Route around the Hoei Crater! 2-day guided Mt. Fuji Climbing Tour (departing Shinjuku at 7:30 AM)
Point 1: Visit the impressive Hoei Crater and its overwhelming silence
This dynamic route walks along the crater rim of Mount Hoei, a lateral volcano of Mt. Fuji. It is said that this route was chosen by the Crown Prince (now the Emperor) when he climbed Mt. Fuji in the past because there were fewer climbers and it was easier to keep guard (a quiet climb). You can enjoy the silence of nature and the magnificent view of the lunar-like crater to your heart's content.
Point 2: Guide to Japan's highest peak, Kengamine (3776m)
We'll not only see the impressive crater, but also aim for Kengamine, the true summit of Mt. Fuji. We'll pass through the Gotemba summit and then continue walking to the highest point in Japan (3,776m). Along with the spectacular view of the crater, you'll experience the sense of accomplishment of standing at the true summit.
*Due to bad weather, crowding, or the physical condition of the guests, the guide may decide to descend the mountain instead of going to Kengamine.
Point 3: [Specialized for beginners] We don't go on the "Osuna-hashi" (large sand run) route! A safe route to protect your knees.
The usual Prince Route uses the Gotemba Route (Osunabashiri) to descend, but the soft gravel path can put a lot of strain on your feet if you are not physically strong, which can cause knee pain. On this tour, the guide has decided to descend the same path as the ascent (Fujinomiya Route) . By returning via the shortest route with well-maintained rocks, we have taken care to ensure that you can walk safely and securely all the way to the end.
Point 4: Leave your unnecessary baggage behind and head to the summit lightly!
We stayed at Akaiwa8gokan (3,300m above sea level), a popular inn on the Gotemba route. A major benefit is that you can leave any unnecessary luggage at the hut when you attack the summit (depot available) . By leaving your heavy luggage behind and heading for the summit lighter, you can reduce the amount of energy you use up and greatly increase your chances of success. Of course, the famous "unlimited curry refills" and "hot breakfast at the hut" as well as the shadow of Fuji that can be seen from in front of the hut are also major attractions.
Point 5: Fully accompanied by a guide! After descending the mountain, stop by a hot spring facility (each person pays their own bathing fee)
During the climb, a professional guide who is familiar with the Fujinomiya route will guide you safely and at a set pace. After descending the mountain, you will stop by a hot spring facility. The bathing fee is not included in the tour price, so you can spend your time as you like, such as "washing off the sweat in the hot spring," "enjoying a meal and beer," or "looking for souvenirs."
*Bathing fees and food and drink charges must be paid by the individual. *Depending on traffic conditions, the hot spring visit may be shortened or omitted.
Point 6: Trusted "Yamarent" Popular Mt. Fuji Climbing Equipment Rental Service
Even in midsummer, temperatures near the summit of Mt. Fuji drop close to freezing, but beginners often fall into the misconception that down jackets alone are enough to keep them warm. Down jackets can cause you to sweat and become cold, so they're not suitable for wearing while on the move. For safety reasons, this tour recommends a 7-piece set (9,000 yen) that includes a fleece. For those with concerns about their physical strength, a 12-piece set (14,000 yen) is also available. In addition to hiking pants, the tour also includes functional tights and knee supports to reduce strain on the legs, providing powerful support for your climb to the summit.
