Complete Guide

To the summit via Japan's shortest route. Complete explanation of course, mountain huts, and fitness level data from Fujinomiya 5th Station to Kengamine.

What is the Fujinomiya Route?

The Fujinomiya Route is a climbing route starting from the Fujinomiya 5th Station (elevation 2,400m) in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Among the four routes, it has the shortest round-trip walking distance (approx. 9.3km) to Kengamine, the highest point in Japan. Because it gains altitude efficiently, it is known as a route with a high summit success rate. The round-trip distance to the Fujinomiya Route Summit is approximately 8.3km.

At the summit, you will find "Chojo Fujikan," the only mountain hut in Japan where you can stay exactly at the summit (elevation 3,740m). The ability to access Kengamine (3,776m) via the shortest possible distance is another unique appeal of this route.
