Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Everything you need to know before joining your first winter adventure in Japan.

I have zero snow hiking or snowshoeing experience. Can I really complete the walk?
Yes, absolutely! Most of our participants are beginners. Our trails are carefully selected to feature gentle slopes without dangerous drops or steep climbs. Professional mountain guides will instruct you on how to fit snowshoes and walk safely over snow, so anyone with average walking fitness can comfortably enjoy the journey.
What should I wear when arriving at the meeting point in Shinjuku?
Please come in comfortable casual clothes and standard sneakers. You will receive your full rental gear (winter boots, snow apparel, trekking pants, etc.) and have dedicated time to change at rest stops along the highway or directly at the trailhead. You only need to bring your own beanie, base layer, thick socks, and lunch/drinks.
Can I bring large suitcases and luggage on the tour?
Yes! You can store your large suitcases and unnecessary luggage completely free of charge in the luggage trunk and interior of our round-trip chartered bus. During the snow hike, simply pack warm layers, valuables, and water into your complimentary rented mountain backpack and travel light.
Can I join this tour as an active "Rest Day" during my ski/snowboard trip?
You are warmly welcome! Leave your skis, snowboards, and heavy equipment at your hotel. This tour is designed as an invigorating, low-impact nature walk rather than strenuous mountaineering, making it the ideal active recovery day to recharge your body while experiencing untouched winter forests.
Can I participate if I don't speak Japanese?
Yes, international travelers participate every season! While our licensed mountain guides speak primarily Japanese, gear fitting, pacing, and essential safety instructions are communicated clearly using gestures, translation apps, and English guidance. Our guides are also delighted to help take scenic photos and videos of you in the snow!
How do I select my gear rental sizes?
After completing your tour booking online, you will receive a confirmation email containing a dedicated link to our Gear Rental Form. Please register your boot and apparel sizes at least 5 days prior to departure. For boots, we recommend selecting +0.5 to +1.0 cm larger than your daily shoe size to accommodate thick hiking socks.
What happens in the event of adverse weather?
Safety is our absolute priority. Depending on live weather, snowfall, or wind conditions, our professional guides may adjust to safer bypass trails or turn back at predetermined safety checkpoints to ensure an enjoyable and secure experience for everyone.
